STAT is proud to present our inaugural STATurday – Savoy Greats featuring Caitlin Wellman and Chachi
Saturday Evening, STAT joins with Odd Socks to present a very special dance honouring the greats of the Savoy Ballroom! Look for performances by Capital Dance Productions and STAT’s brand new student troupe in addition to other tricks, flicks and surprises!
Savoy Greats – with Caitlin and Chachi – 1-5pm
The Savoy Ballroom, the home of the Lindy Hop, had many dancers who were well known innovators in their day. Some of those names have been forgotten over time, but there are still plenty who we remember, and some who are still kicking! People like Al Minns, Leon James, Frankie Manning, Sugar Sullivan, Norma Miller, Mama Lu Parks all had different things they contributed to the dance. In this class we are going to give you a taste of several Savoy Greats, as well as teach some combinations that were considered Savoy Classics!
Classes will be held at Mad for Dance Studios – 263 Adelaide St W, Toronto
